With New Year’s Eve right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to spend the big night, and I’ve got JUST the thing for you! When Chef Vedhas Deshmukh and his team from 2 Doors Down set out to create their incredible New Year’s Eve Menu, they had one thing in mind – you. With a strong focus on bringing together old favourites and exciting new dishes, Chef Deshmukh wants his guests to ring in the New Year in style; with a cocktail in hand, surrounded by great friends and delicious food.

From the minute I step foot inside 2 Doors Down, I am enveloped by the warm and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. I am greeted by the friendliest of staff, and as I sit down I truly feel as if I have been welcomed home. To start, the New Year’s Eve Menu offers an assortment of sharing plates (if you can resist eating them all yourself) that range from Duck Rillettes to Nanny Flinn’s Cheeseball.

Next up, the second course is comprised of a variety of warm, hearty dishes to sink your teeth into. Today I have the honour of tasting the Radical Root Salad, and as I dig in, each bite brings with it a burst of different flavours. The richness from the beet hummus coupled with the salty goat cheese are a match made in heaven, only to be rivalled by the bursts of brightness that the pickled heirloom carrots bring to the dish. Move over caesar, there’s a new salad in town!

Just when I think that I cannot be wowed anymore, I am presented with my main course. With your choice of four different dishes, I can guarantee there is something for everyone. First up is a tried and tested 2 Doors Down classic – the Oulton’s Smoked Pork Chop with their signature Mac n’ Cheese. Placed atop a bed of fresh vegetables, the pork chop is truly the star of this dish. With each taste, the smoky flavours mix with mustard jus to create the perfect bite every time. As if this flavour experience isn’t amazing already, I crack into their signature Mac n’ Cheese. Creamy on the inside and fried to perfection on the outside – it is unlike anything I have ever tried before and I’m sold!

If you are looking for a little seafood in your life, then the NYE Dayboat Risotto is perfect for you! The rich lobster & sweet pea risotto will having you going back for seconds (and thirds, and fourths), while the crispy halibut cheeks provide the perfect crunch for this creamy dish.

Last but certainly not least is the Braised Boneless P.E.I. Beef Short Rib. The Parmesan polenta offers a perfectly absorbent and creamy bed to soak up the sauce and the beef short rib is so tender that each bite practically melts in my mouth. The roasted mushrooms and kale take this hearty dish to a whole other level and the crispy shallots create a layer of pungent bite to bring everything together.

To finish off the night, the menu offers a choice of two decadent desserts: a blood orange tiramisu or a rich double chocolate bourbon cake.
