The Starving Sailor is a food blog and multi-media marketing agency based out of Victoria, BC that works directly with independently-owned restaurants, distributors, wineries, breweries, and prepared foods companies across Canada to help put their brands on the map by embracing the spirit of digital first.
It all started when a Dalhousie University business student was unable to find a job for his work term and decided to create his own entrepreneurial co-op project. During a heated brainstorming session regarding the kinds of issues facing the city of Halifax, someone brought up the point that when people’s parents came to visit, they only went to one of two restaurants. Why was it that in a city with access to some of the best seafood in the world no one was paying attention to the vibrant and rapidly developing food scene?
So with that in mind, the idea of creating a low-cost platform for local restaurateurs to get the word out about their businesses took form, and The Starving Sailor was born. Fast forward 3 years, 100+ digital media campaigns, 7,000 followers, and one-cross country move later, and Co-Owners Adam Rosenbaum and Colin McParland are hungrier than ever to show the world what their twin cities are made of.
